These recordings were made by researchers of the Sokoine University of Agriculture through FORCONSULT, their consultancy bureau, funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF). Both forests are part of the Njombe Forest Key Biodiversity Area in Tanzania, and at the time they were unprotected by any law.

Speaking during the workshop, the Director General of the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission, Professor Lazaro Busagala explained that TAEC have been providing Education on the Safe Use of Nuclear Technology and Radiation Control in various Universities in the country as one of their major stakeholders and close allies especially Sokoine University of Agriculture.
This training on fish farming was offered jointly by the Department of Animal, Aquaculture and Range Sciences and the ICE who have collaborated in conducting four courses in a row, for the year 2019 only.
The initial agreement took place on February 11, 2020 at the SUA Main Campus which involved Banat University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sorin Stanciu, Deputy Principal of Agriculture, Dr. Laura Smuleac and Director in charge of Romania's Foreign Cooperation Issues and Leaders Dr. Raul Pascalau and Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture, Prof. Raphael Chibunda
The training, which aimed at providing knowledge and skills for production of catfish fingerings, was conducted from 30th September to 5th October 2019. Two participants of this training had previously attended a short course on tilapia fish farming which was conducted by Department of Animal, Aquaculture and Range Sciences (DAARS) in collaboration with Institute of Continuing Education (ICE), SUA from 6th to 9th May 2019.
Prof. Chibunda said this at the multipurpose hall soon after completing the registration process to be ready for the general elections in October 2020.
He said the exercise is only about one week long and it is good for all members especially students to use this opportunity to avoid any potential disruption and considering the next few days there will be exams to complete the semester.
The commendation was given by Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office responsible for Youth and Employment, Hon. Anthony Mavunde on 22nd January, 2020 when he handed over tickets to 12 SUA graduates traveling to the United States for a practical training (internship) program for the Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) members.

The appeal was made by the vice-chancellor of the Sokoine University of Agricultural (SUA) Prof. Raphael Chibunda while inaugurating the annual staff sports and games tournaments known as Chibunda Cup.
Prof. Chibunda directed the principal of colleges, heads of departments and units to encourage all staff to participate in sports events which also helps in building brotherhood, unity and solidarity among staff considering the fact that the University has large number of staff members which makes difficult to know each other easily.
Production of salt in mangroves in many areas is also not sustainable, because some of the owners of the salt ponds and local communities are not aware of the possible negative impacts of solar salt farming and the implications of their investments for the integrity of the mangrove ecosystem. Also, little efforts have been made to restore the abandoned salt ponds area and sites where mangroves are cleared and selectively logged.

SUASO leaders are responsible for student’s academic, political, social and recreational life at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). SUA administration also uses this partnership to nurture and mentor SUASO leaders into lifelong leaders.
Speaking immediately after inspecting the farm, Prof. Kahimba asked the farm manager to estimate the value of the damage so that the University can be compensated.
“We have to write a letter to the owners of the cattle so that they can compensate the damage, this can be a lesson learnt to other herders who feed their livestock in the university fields”, said Prof. Kahimba.

Eliya who is the third year student from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at SUA was one of the 41 veterinary students out of 240 from 30 countries who won a scholarship of 5,000 US Dollar from MSD Animal Health and World Veterinary Association.
Speaking with excitement after receiving the award, Eliya said the scholarship will assist him during his studies at SUA especially during his research work.
During this meeting, members made a tour to visit various development projects sites implemented by SUA such as Mazimbu Hospital (Dental and X-Ray Unit), SUA-PASS Incubation Project, New Cafeteria, Multipurpose Laboratory, Animal Referral Hospital, ICE Hostels and Auxiliary Police Station.
Speaking after the completion of the cleanliness exercise on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raphael Chibunda, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (academic) Prof. Peter R. The NCMC is the institution that manages an effective national system of measuring, reporting and verification (MRV) of carbon in forest ecosystems for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the international community on behalf of the nation. While initial focus was on Carbon emission reductions in the forestry Sector, in the longer term, the NCMC can be expanded to accommodate other sectors (such as agriculture, energy, transport, industries).
SUA academic members of staff were exposed to student centered pedagogical methods and techniques that activate learners to take the central role in the learning process. Further, participants were trained on the use of SUA E-Learning platform (the moodle) to complement face to face teaching. In addition participants were exposed on ways to incorporate entrepreneurship and sustainability components into curriculum.
The tree planting campaign for this year was launched today, 6th May 2019, by Morogoro Regional Secretary, Mr. Clifford Tandari at Kasanga Village area in Morogoro
The beneficiaries of this training were BSc. and MSc holder in Environmental Sciences and Management, Marine Biology & Limnology; Environmental Engineering, Forestry and Wildlife, Education (Geography / Biology / Mathematics) and those with basic knowledge on ecology/environmental economics and/or water related sciences.
In this year’s celebration, six staff were recognized and honored as Best Workers while 36 staff from various university units were also honored as hard workers under Researchers, Academicians and Allied Workers Union (RAAWU) of Sokoine University of Agriculture.
Prof. Ngaga climbed the ladder from Tutorial Assistant to Professor. Along the way, he worked as Head of Department and Dean of Faculty by then the Faculty of Forestry and Nature conservation before being appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor ( Administration and Finance). He has played a big role in Sokoine University of Agriculture’s development. His knowledge, commitment and years of experience have brought the Institution to where it is today.
During his visit Prof. Gabriel was able to visit Animal Referral Hospital which is located at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Main Campus under the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
Recently, form six students from Morogoro Secondary School visited Sokoine University of Agriculture to learn about courses offered at SUA and qualifications needed for them to study at SUA. They also visited the Model farms, SUAMEDIA and the Weather forecast center both located at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) Main Campus.
This year's event took place from 9th to 12th April, 2019, at the main campus of the Sokoine University of Agriculture whereby the University units and other stakeholders demonstrated various technologies, ideas, discoveries and solutions that will helps in improving agricultural, food and health sectors in Tanzania
While opening the Sokoine Memorial Week, Dr. Leonard Akwilapo said that SUA has made significant contributions on the transformation of the country’s agricultural sector from subsistence farming towards modernization and commercialization. He added that the rehabilitation aims at commemorating the Late Edward Moringe Sokoine.
